First Baptist Church, 8600 N. College Ave., Indianapolis is hosting a Community Worship Service on Sept. 21, 11 a.m. to commemorate the First Baptist Athletics (FBA) 40th Anniversary year-long celebration. Former and current FBA participants, coaches, supporters, families, and the community are invited to attend. The event will feature Brad Stevens, Butler Basketball Coach speaking on Defining A Great Teammate.

Brad Stevens was named Butler’s head basketball coach on April 5, 2007 and became the third-youngest NCAA Division I coach to guide his team to 30 wins and the youngest in more than half a century. His team approach includes a high commitment to personal integrity and character. Read more…

Eight Central Florida high school students were among the 39 students who received college scholarships from the Florida Association of Realtors.

The students, who wrote essays on how a Realtor helps a community, received $5,000 scholarships for first place, $1,500 for second place and $500 for third place. Read more…

The U.S. has reinstated the Fulbright scholarships of seven Gaza Strip students blocked by Israel from leaving the Hamas-ruled territory, according to a letter obtained by The Associated Press.

The students were informed Thursday that their scholarships for the upcoming academic year would be deferred because they couldn’t get out of Gaza, which Israel blockaded after Islamic Hamas militants seized power a year ago. Read more…

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce Tuesday awarded a series of academic scholarships to six deserving local students bound for college.

The six students faced stiff competition for the $1,500 scholarships-awarded based on interviews, essays and a host of academic and other criteria-after the Chamber’s education committee saw a spike in applicants over last year, with 32 prospective scholars and 28 who qualified for the interview. The University of Waterloo is once again among the top three universities to receive scholarships from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

The American Indian College Fund’s (the Fund) event at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas on May 1 raised $60,000 for student scholarships and celebrated 40 years of tribal colleges.

The dollar value of PhD scholarships is “in freefall” and projected to drop below the poverty line later this year, the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations says.

Figures released by the council yesterday show that the weekly stipend rate for Australian Postgraduate Awards projected for the December quarter of this year $385 will fall below the projected Henderson poverty line for the same period. And that figure is for a single person with no dependents. The stipend, which does not vary according to circumstances, is well below the poverty line of $581 for a person with two dependents.
