Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) congratulates Timothy Evans, the chief building inspector for the Town of Leland, and Michelyn Alston, the assistant town clerk for the Town of Navassa, who are recipients of a UNC School of Government (SOG) Scholarship award.

Evans, who is one of 11 scholarship winners, will use the $750 scholarship money to attend a course in Municipal/County Administration at the SOG at UNC-Chapel Hill. Alston will use her $575 award to attend the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Certification Institute at the SOG.

“The credit union is proud to partner with the School of Government to offer these scholarships to North Carolina’s local government employees,” said LGFCU President Maurice Smith. “As a result, LGFCU members are able to strengthen their skills and enhance their job performance, thereby better serving their communities.”
