Two receive May Kay Rossmeier scholarships

Jennifer Elaine Boehmer and Jaime Evan Glader were recipients of $500 each of the May Kay Rossmeier $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship award had to be split between them as they were both equally qualified to receive it and one could not be chosen over the other.

The scholarship is for gradates of Burlington High School who have completed at least the first year of continuing education in any discipline/trade, vocational, or technical college, who has had a part time job to meet a responsibility to assist in funding their continuing education, and who excels in grades and leadership in the field they have chosen.

Boehmer is attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater majoring in theatre and English education. Glader is attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire as a biology major.

Mary Kay Rossmeier died in September of 2002 after a 12 year struggle with cancer. She was a middle school teacher for 34 years in the Burlington School District. She was passionate about education and contributed greatly to her school, community and her family. This continuing scholarship is set up as one way in which to keep her memory alive. Each year $1,000 will be awarded.

College students after their first year can request applications for this scholarship for the following September term and in years thereafter from Burlington High School Scholarships Inc., 441 Milwaukee Ave., Burlington, WI 53105.
